Calgary Zoo.

It was founded in 1912 is located on St George Island in the Bow River. I highly recommend visiting the zoo at springtime to have a great experience.

Calgary Stampede.

This 10-day rodeo event is one of the great activities to engage in during the summer in Calgary. This famous event includes all kinds of cowboy activities and pancake breakfasts.

The population dress accordingly in blue jeans and brightly coloured Stetsons.

Events include rodeo competitions, neck-breaking chuckwagon races, an authentic first nation village as well as agricultural shows.

Calgary Ski Resorts.

Visiting Calgary during the winter can also be a wonderful time because of the wide range of activities that take place at that time.

There are 3 major ski resorts in Calgary: Lake Louis Ski resort, Sunshine Village and Mt Norquay.

They combine to offer a large skiable terrain not to mention the backcountry trails available throughout the park.

This period is great to engage in activities like wildlife tours, ice walks, downhill and cross country skiing, snow-shoeing, dogsled/horse sleigh rides etc.

Dining out.

Explore Calgary’s diverse culinary landscape by checking out various restaurants in the area.

Check out 17th avenue which has many great dining spots and bistros. If Asian food is your thing, you can hit downtown China town for an array of various Asian restaurants.

Oriental Phoenix is a fantastic Vietnamese restaurant which is located at suite 105-4019 Ave, SW and another close to Chinook (train station 10458 Ave SW).

You can also visit original Joe’s which is a great location for good, drink and great service.

In general, you will find a lot of restaurants and bistros serving European food i.e. French, German, Italian, Greek, Portuguese and Spanish.

While Asian foods like Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Vietnamese and Middle Eastern food is available. You can also find a wide range of South American and African cuisine too.
